Multimedia on the Internet

The great advantage of the Internet is its availability at any place and at any time. The multimedia potential of the Internet is great too – sound, static images, animations, and video can be played and viewed in the www browser. Unfortunately, the speed of the user’s Internet connection determines the utilization of this potential. The typical Czech user, connected to the Internet via modem and commuted telephone line, is certainly not the user that can utilize the potential. 

In this aspect, the situation on the Intranet is a lot more favorable. The Intranet utilizes the Internet technologies within a local network and the transmission possibilities of larger amounts of data are comparable with the CD ROM. 

Certain solution is also building “Hybrid” (composite) applications, in which the time consuming download of bulk data is made from the CD ROM and the up-to-date information of smaller size is downloaded from the Internet.

Jistým řešení je také tvorba "Hybridních" (smíšených) aplikací, kde objemově náročná a časově dlouhodobější data jsou umístěna na CD ROM a aktuální data o menším objemu jsou získávána z Internetu.

Updating the Internet programs

We consider no Internet (or CD) project finished by handing it over to the customer. We provide for operations and updating throughout project’s lifetime. There are many solution possibilities ranging from the customer’s complete control of the program (the disadvantage consists in the necessity of customer’s expert knowledge since an unqualified intervention may result in a damage to the program) to the supplier’s full control of the program (disadvantages may consist in the dependency on the supplier and, sometimes, it takes longer before the supplier can respond to the customer’s request).

We solve the operations issue in a contract with the customer. In our opinion, the happy mean rests in selecting sections of the web that need to be updated often (or on short notice) and providing the customer with a custom-built edit system that enables him to log in and modify these sections without the necessity of him possessing any expert knowledge.
